Saint Martin

Copper, 35” W x 21” H, 1997

This, too, is based on a legend.  Saint Martin was riding through the countryside when he came upon a poor and cold beggar.  Saint Martin took his sword and cut his cape in half, giving a part to the beggar.  Later that night, Saint Martin had a dream in which the beggar appeared to him and transformed into the image of Jesus Christ.  It was a test of charity, hospitality, and love.
